📖 About the university
The University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, Zhongshan Institute is a full-time undergraduate college located at No. 1 Xueyuan Road in the Shiqi District of Zhongshan, Guangdong Province. Its origins go back to October 1986, when it was established as a branch of Sun Yat-sen University; it became independent as Zhongshan Institute in 1995 and, in 2002, entered a co-operative partnership with the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC) from which it takes its current name and much of its academic direction. Reflecting that partnership, the college is especially strong in electronic information, computer science, communication engineering and mechanical and electrical engineering, and it also offers programmes through schools of management, economics and trade, foreign languages, art and design, materials and food, and humanities and social sciences. Situated in Zhongshan, a manufacturing city in the heart of the Pearl River Delta and hometown of Sun Yat-sen, the institute maintains close links with the region's electronics and lighting industries. It provides applied, engineering-focused education to a large student body and serves as an important talent base for the surrounding Greater Bay Area economy.

🌆 About Zhongshan
Zhongshan is a prefecture-level city in the central Pearl River Delta of Guangdong Province, named after the revolutionary leader Sun Yat-sen, whose birthplace at Cuiheng lies within its borders. With around four million residents, it is a compact, prosperous manufacturing hub known for lighting, hardware, home appliances and small-commodity industries. The climate is humid subtropical, with hot, wet summers and short, mild winters. The city offers a relaxed Lingnan lifestyle, with parks, hot springs, the historic Sun Wen West Road pedestrian street, and easy access to Cantonese food. New bridges and high-speed rail place it within an hour of Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai and Hong Kong, making it a well-connected base within the Greater Bay Area.
