📖 About the university

Dongguan City University is a private undergraduate institution in Liaobu town of Dongguan, the manufacturing metropolis between Guangzhou and Shenzhen. It was approved by the Ministry of Education in June 2004 as the City College of Dongguan University of Technology, an independent college that first taught on that university's Guancheng campus; in 2009 the Guangdong Hongfa investment group became the joint operator, in August 2012 the college moved wholesale to its own 1,228-mu campus in Liaobu, and in May 2021 it converted into a free-standing private institution under the present name. Around 19,000 students study across 14 teaching units offering 48 bachelor programmes, from a business school and a digital economy school through urban construction and environment, artificial intelligence, law, language and culture, creative design and intelligent manufacturing to performing arts. The library holds over 1.9 million printed volumes, and some two dozen research institutes plus a Guangdong provincial doctoral workstation anchor its applied research. A second campus in Yonghan town of Huizhou has been under construction. The motto is generous virtue and practical work, uniting knowledge and action; teaching is in Chinese for a domestic intake, with graduates flowing into the factories, trading firms and service companies of the Dongguan-Shenzhen corridor.
