📖 About the university

Xinjiang Agricultural Vocational University is a full-time public vocational-bachelor's university located in Changji, near Urumqi in northern Xinjiang. Its predecessor was the Changji Prefecture Cooperative Cadre School founded in 1958, which was upgraded in 2000 to Xinjiang Agricultural Vocational and Technical College, and in June 2024 the Ministry of Education approved the establishment of Xinjiang Agricultural Vocational University on that basis, making it the first public vocational-bachelor's university in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. In 2006 the college was named one of the first twenty-eight national demonstrative higher-vocational colleges, and in 2019 it was recognised as a high-quality higher-vocational college. Its first vocational-bachelor's majors include modern seed-industry technology, protected horticulture, animal medicine, modern animal husbandry and food engineering technology, alongside more than forty college-level programmes. The university is organised into teaching units covering agronomy, animal science and veterinary medicine, horticulture and forestry, food engineering, mechanical and electrical engineering and information technology. Rooted in Xinjiang's large agricultural economy, it trains skilled technicians for the region's farming, animal-husbandry and food industries. As an applied vocational university it enrols primarily domestic students and does not currently advertise a dedicated Chinese-language pathway for international applicants.
