Hebei University of Chinese Medicine in Shijiazhuang, founded in 1956, is the leading TCM university of Hebei province near Beijing. It teaches Chinese medicine, acupuncture and tuina, Chinese pharmacy, clinical medicine and nursing, and draws on Hebei's long medical heritage, including the classical physician Zhang Yuansu. Its affiliated hospitals serve the capital region. It welcomes international students into acupuncture and Chinese-medicine programmes. The university offers TCM study close to Beijing.
