📖 About the university

Chongqing Vocational and Technical University of Mechatronics is a public university located in Bishan District on the western edge of the Chongqing municipality, and it specialises in mechatronics, intelligent manufacturing and automotive engineering. The school traces its origins to 1971, giving it more than five decades of technical teaching history before it changed status, and on 19 December 2018 it was approved as a bachelor's-level vocational institution — one of the very first batch nationwide — formally taking its present name on 27 May 2019. That first-batch status matters: China created the vocational-bachelor's category to give applied technical education a degree route of its own, and the fifteen pilot institutions were chosen because their industry links were already strong enough to support it. The university's colleges cover mechanical engineering, intelligent manufacturing, automotive engineering, electronics and information engineering, aeronautical engineering and economics and management, a portfolio built directly around Chongqing's identity as one of China's largest automobile and equipment-manufacturing bases. Teaching is workshop-heavy by design, with students spending extended periods on production lines, in robotics cells and in enterprise placements rather than in lecture halls alone. It carries no 985, 211 or Double First-Class designation, but for a student who wants hands-on manufacturing and automotive training inside a major industrial city, its location in Bishan — surrounded by automotive suppliers and within Chongqing's metro reach — is the substantive advantage.
