📖 About the university

Zhejiang Pharmaceutical University is a public university in Ningbo, Zhejiang province, and holds a distinction no other Chinese institution can claim: it is the country's first pharmaceutical vocational undergraduate university and the only undergraduate school operating inside the national drug-supervision system. It was created in 2022 when Zhejiang Pharmaceutical College was upgraded to undergraduate status and merged with the Donghai Science and Technology College of Zhejiang Ocean University in Zhoushan, making it the first public vocational-bachelor's university in Zhejiang province. The university operates three campuses — at Fenghua, Yinzhou and a Xinchang industrial academy — covering roughly 1,410 mu with a total building area of about 361,200 square metres. Fourteen secondary colleges cover pharmacy, Chinese medicine, pharmaceutical commerce, nursing, food and health, and medical devices, an unusually complete spread across the pharmaceutical value chain from synthesis through distribution to clinical use. The vocational-bachelor's model means students spend substantially more time in laboratories, GMP-simulated production lines and pharmacy placements than a conventional degree allows, and the Xinchang industrial academy places teaching directly inside one of China's major pharmaceutical manufacturing clusters. For an international student, the appeal is a young institution with new facilities, a single clear specialism, and Ningbo's low living costs and direct port and rail links to Shanghai and Hangzhou.
