Nanjing University of Science and Technology (NJUST) is a public research university in Nanjing, the capital of Jiangsu province, founded in 1953 with origins in the military engineering institute in Harbin. It is a Project 211 university and part of the national Double First-Class initiative, and it is counted among the group of universities historically dedicated to national defence science and technology. NJUST is especially known for mechanical engineering, optical engineering, materials science, chemical engineering, and automation, and it has particular strength in ordnance and defence-related technology.
