📖 About the university

Anyang Normal University is a public undergraduate university located in Anyang City, Henan Province, administered by the Henan provincial authorities. Its origins reach back to 1908 with the Zhangde Prefecture Anyang Normal Training Institute, and after a series of reorganizations the present university was formed in 2000 through the merger of Anyang Normal College, Anyang Education College and Anyang Second Normal School. The university comprises around 22 teaching colleges plus a college of continuing education, offering some 64 undergraduate majors across economics, law, education, literature, history, science, engineering, management and the arts. In 2020 it was named one of Henan Province's characteristic backbone universities, and in 2021 it was approved as a master's degree-granting unit. Located in Anyang, the cradle of the ancient Shang dynasty capital of Yin and the birthplace of oracle bone script, the university is particularly noted for its teacher education and its distinctive research on oracle bone inscriptions. Anyang Normal University admits international students and offers Chinese-language study opportunities.
