📖 About the university

Taizhou College of Nanjing Normal University is a private undergraduate independent college in Taizhou, a city on the north bank of the Yangtze in central Jiangsu Province. It was approved by the Ministry of Education in June 2004 and is jointly run by Nanjing Normal University, one of China's leading teacher-training universities, and a local higher-education investment company. Serving over 14,000 students, it is organised into around thirteen schools and offers roughly forty-three undergraduate programmes spanning economics, law, education, literature, history, science, engineering, agriculture, management and the arts. Drawing on its parent university's traditions, it has distinctive strengths in teacher education and art education, with several provincial first-class and star-rated programmes. A planned merger with a vocational college was halted in 2021, and it continues to operate as an independent college. Its core strengths lie in teacher education, art education, humanities, business and information technology. It suits students seeking teacher-training and liberal-arts education backed by a respected normal university in the Yangtze Delta.

🌆 About Taizhou

Taizhou sits in central Jiangsu on the north bank of the Yangtze, a water town threaded with rivers and famous for its refined morning-tea culture. Locals gather at dawn for delicate crab-roe soup dumplings, fish-soup noodles and Huangqiao sesame cakes, a ritual that defines daily life. The moated old town centers on the Fengcheng River and the rebuilt Wanghai Tower, while the city proudly claims Peking-opera master Mei Lanfang as a native son. Historically a salt-trade center, Taizhou today is a base for shipbuilding, pharmaceuticals and biotech in its 'China Medical City' zone. It shares Yangzhou Taizhou International Airport and lies on high-speed rail lines toward Nanjing and Shanghai.
