📖 About the university

Naval Aviation University is a military aviation university headquartered in Yantai, Shandong province, affiliated with the People's Liberation Army Navy. Its earliest predecessor, the Naval Aeronautical Engineering University, was founded on 24 August 1950, making it one of the first military academies established after the founding of the People's Republic of China; the present institution was formed through the merger of the Naval Aviation Academy and the Naval Aviation Engineering Academy during the 2017 restructuring of PLA military educational institutions. In addition to its main campus in urban Yantai, the university operates a campus and training base in Qingdao, along with flight training facilities in Huludao in Liaoning province, Changzhi in Shanxi province, and Qinhuangdao in Hebei province. It trains junior and intermediate command officers, flight officers, staff officers, airborne combat-service officers, and aerospace engineering technical officers for China's naval aviation and coastal defence forces, combining flight training with technical and engineering education. Its location on the Jiaodong Peninsula gives cadets direct access to coastal airfields and naval aviation facilities along the Bohai and Yellow Sea coastlines. As a PLA Navy institution training Chinese naval aviators and engineers, it does not offer general admission for international students.
