📖 About the university

Wuhan University of Science and Technology traces its roots to the Hubei Technical Institute founded by reformer Zhang Zhidong in 1898, making it one of the oldest engineering schools in China. Historically tied to the great Wuhan steel industry, it is especially strong in metallurgical engineering, materials science and mining. The university continues to lead research on iron and steel, refractories and advanced metals. It combines engineering with growing programmes in medicine and management.
