📖 About the university
Guangzhou City University of Technology is a full-time private undergraduate university located at No. 1 Xuefu Road in the Huadu District of Guangzhou, Guangdong Province. It was founded in 2005 as the South China University of Technology Guangzhou Automobile College, was renamed South China University of Technology Guangzhou College in 2011, and in February 2021 was approved by the Ministry of Education to convert into an independently run private university under its present name. The university retains a strong engineering orientation inherited from its parent institution, with well-regarded schools of mechanical engineering, automotive and transportation engineering, electrical engineering, and computer engineering. It is unusual among Chinese universities in operating a dedicated School of Gemmology, reflecting the Guangzhou region's important jewellery and jade trade, alongside schools of architecture, civil engineering, economics, management and foreign languages. The campus serves around twenty thousand students and emphasises applied, industry-linked training aimed at the manufacturing and technology sectors of the Guangdong Greater Bay Area.

🌆 About Guangzhou
Guangzhou, historically known as Canton, is the capital of Guangdong Province and one of China's largest and most commercially vibrant cities, with a population of over 18 million on the Pearl River. As the traditional southern gateway for foreign trade, it hosts the twice-yearly Canton Fair and anchors the manufacturing powerhouse of the Pearl River Delta. The climate is humid subtropical, with long hot summers, warm mild winters and a distinct rainy season. Cantonese culture shapes daily life, from the ritual of dim sum and morning tea to Lingnan architecture, gardens and opera. Served by an enormous metro system, Baiyun International Airport and high-speed rail across the Greater Bay Area, it is a major hub for students seeking a warm, business-focused, and internationally connected environment.
