📖 About the university

The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) is a public university specialising in teacher education and complementary disciplines, formed in 1994 through the merger of several colleges of education and granted full university title in 2016. Its green, purpose-built campus is located in Tai Po in the New Territories, set among hills and reservoirs away from the dense urban core. The university is organised into faculties of Education and Human Development, Humanities, and Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, teaching in both English and Chinese. EdUHK debuted in the QS World University Rankings 2026 at 530th, but it is far more prominent in its speciality: it has been ranked among the top ten universities in the world for Education in the QS World University Rankings by Subject, and it is one of the largest providers of trained teachers in the region. Its strengths extend to psychology, Chinese and English language teaching, special education, and early childhood education. With strong links to schools and education systems across Asia and a supportive, focused learning environment, EdUHK suits students committed to careers in teaching, education policy, and human development.

🌆 About Hong Kong

Hong Kong is a Special Administrative Region on the southern coast of China and one of the world's leading financial, trading, and logistics hubs, where Cantonese Chinese culture blends seamlessly with a British-influenced international outlook. Built around one of the finest deep-water harbours in the world, the territory packs a dramatic skyline of skyscrapers against steep green mountains and outlying islands, with Victoria Harbour at its heart. Its climate is humid subtropical, bringing hot, humid summers with occasional typhoons and mild, dry winters. English and Chinese are both official languages, and the city is famous for its efficient MTR metro, double-decker trams and buses, and Hong Kong International Airport, one of the busiest in the world. Everyday life mixes Michelin-starred dining and dim sum teahouses with street markets, temples, hiking trails, and beaches, all within easy reach. For an international student, Hong Kong offers a concentration of world-ranked universities, a genuinely global environment, and easy travel across Asia, though living costs and rents are among the highest in the region.
