📖 About the university

Minnan Science and Technology Institute is a private undergraduate university located in Nan'an, part of Quanzhou in Fujian Province. It was founded in 2001 by Fujian Normal University, a provincial "double first-class" construction university, together with patriotic overseas Chinese from the Philippines, and was one of the first independent colleges established in Fujian. In November 2018 the Ministry of Education approved its conversion into an independently established regular undergraduate university under its current name. The institute has seven departments and around twenty-five undergraduate majors across science, engineering, the humanities, management and economics, and enrols close to eight thousand students. It operates the Kangmei and Meilin campuses in Nan'an and emphasises applied education, with strengths in electronic and information engineering, optoelectronics, business and applied foreign languages. Set in the entrepreneurial heartland of southern Fujian, it serves the manufacturing and export economy of the Quanzhou region.
