📖 About the university

Guangxi Normal University for Nationalities is a full-time public undergraduate university organized by the Government of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and co-built with the city of Chongzuo, near China's border with Vietnam. Its history dates back to the Chongshan Normal School founded in 1939, and after passing through stages such as the Longzhou Normal School and Nanning Normal Junior College it was upgraded to a full undergraduate teacher-training university with the current name in 2009. Covering more than 1,100 mu, the university serves around 20,000 full-time students, over half of whom belong to the Zhuang, Yao, Miao, Dong and other ethnic minority groups, and it comprises schools including teacher education, literature and media, mathematics and electronic information engineering, foreign languages, and politics and public administration. Given its border location, it is distinctive for teacher education, Zhuang ethnic culture studies, China-ASEAN cross-border research and instruction in Vietnamese and Thai. The university enrolls international students, many from neighboring Southeast Asian countries, and provides Chinese-language study for learners in China.
