📖 About the university
City University of Macau (CityU Macau) is a private university whose origins trace back to 1981, when the University of East Asia was founded in Macau; after that institution's public component became today's University of Macau, the private remainder evolved through several names and adopted its current title in 2011. Its campuses on Taipa island place it near the Cotai resort district, an apt setting for a university strong in tourism and hospitality. The university teaches in Chinese, English, and Portuguese and is organised into faculties and schools spanning business, data science, finance, international tourism and management, innovation and design, humanities and social sciences, education, and law, along with an institute focused on research on Portuguese-speaking countries. CityU Macau is particularly known for international tourism and hospitality management, business administration and MBA education, data science, and urban and sustainable development, reflecting Macau's tourism-driven economy. It has expanded rapidly in recent years, drawing many postgraduate and international students and building research capacity across the social sciences. With its applied, service-industry focus and multicultural environment, CityU Macau suits students interested in tourism, business, design, and management careers in a vibrant resort city.

🌆 About Macau
Macau is a Special Administrative Region on the western side of the Pearl River estuary, a former Portuguese enclave that returned to China in 1999 and is today the only place in the country where casino gaming is legal. Compact and densely populated, it is famous for a UNESCO-listed historic centre where baroque churches, cobbled squares, and Chinese temples stand side by side, most iconically the Ruins of St. Paul's. The territory has a humid subtropical climate with hot, humid summers and mild winters, and Cantonese, Portuguese, and increasingly English and Mandarin are all in use. Its economy, built on tourism and the integrated resorts of the Cotai Strip, gives it one of the highest per-capita incomes in the world and funds generous public services and student scholarships. Macau is linked to Hong Kong and Zhuhai by the record-breaking Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge and has its own international airport on Taipa island. For an international student, Macau offers a uniquely East-meets-West Sino-Portuguese culture, small class sizes, strong tourism and hospitality programmes, and a safe, walkable environment.
