📖 About the university

Anhui Technical College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering is a public full-time higher vocational college established by the Anhui provincial government and supervised by the Anhui Provincial Department of Education, located in the industrial city of Wuhu on the Yangtze River. Its history goes back to 1935 and the private Neisi Industrial Vocational School of Anhui, and it passed through the successive names of Wuhu Electric Power School, Wuhu Electrical Machinery Manufacturing School and Wuhu Electrical Machinery Manufacturing College. In 1972 it was renamed Wuhu Machinery School of Anhui Province and in 1978 it was reorganised as the Anhui Institute of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering; in 2003 the Anhui provincial government approved its upgrade from Wuhu Machinery School into the present higher vocational college. The college runs the Wenchang and Fanchang campuses, covering 1,505.78 mu with a total building area of about 436,200 square metres. It teaches more than ten thousand students of all categories in nine departments: mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, information engineering, numerical control engineering, automotive engineering, humanities and management, basic studies, physical education and ideological-political teaching. Its engineering-first identity aligns it closely with Wuhu's automotive and equipment-manufacturing base, home to the carmaker Chery, and mechanical manufacturing, electrical automation, numerical control and automotive technology are its strongest fields.
