China Foreign Affairs University (CFAU) in Beijing, founded in 1955 under Premier Zhou Enlai, is China's premier institution for training diplomats and is directly affiliated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It is small and highly selective, focusing on diplomacy, international relations, international law, international economics and foreign languages. Widely regarded as the 'cradle of Chinese diplomats', a large share of its graduates enter the diplomatic service. Its campuses in Beijing keep it close to the country's foreign-policy institutions.
