Beijing Technology and Business University (BTBU), founded in 1950, is one of New China's earliest universities, formed from the merger of the Beijing Light Industry School, the Beijing Business School and a machinery-industry administration school. It is a teaching-and-research university whose signature strengths are food science and business management, blending an industrial-light-industry heritage with modern commerce. Its Food Science and Engineering programme was the first in China to earn dual international accreditation from the Institute of Food Technologists and the International Union of Food Science and Technology. The university spans sixteen schools and offers dozens of undergraduate and postgraduate majors across engineering, economics, management, science and the arts. Located in Beijing's Haidian and Liangxiang areas, it is well positioned for students interested in food, retail, chemistry and business.
