📖 About the university

Army Engineering University is a military engineering university headquartered in Nanjing, Jiangsu province, formed in 2017 through the reorganisation of the former PLA University of Science and Technology, the Ordnance Engineering College, the Chongqing Communications Institute, the Engineering Corps College, and the Wuhan Ordnance NCO School. Its constituent institutions trace their organisational roots back to the 1930s-1950s, including a Red Army radio training class founded in Ningdu, Jiangxi, and the engineering programme associated with the historic Harbin Military Engineering Institute. Alongside its main campus on the Yangtze River in Nanjing, the university operates branch campuses in Shijiazhuang, Chongqing, Wuhan, and Xuzhou, reflecting the geographic spread of its predecessor schools. It is organised around five internal colleges — the School of Communications Engineering, the School of Field Engineering, the School of Command and Control Engineering, the School of National Defense Engineering, and its Graduate School — training army engineers in communications, field and defence engineering, and ordnance systems. The university plays a central role in preparing engineering officers for the People's Liberation Army Army and conducts research on national defence engineering, military communications, and combat support technology. As a PLA institution focused on training Chinese army engineering officers, it does not offer general admission for international students.
