📖 About the university

Leshan Normal University is a public undergraduate university located in the Shizhong District of Leshan City, Sichuan Province, under the administration of the Sichuan provincial government. Its heritage traces back to the Sichuan Provincial Leshan Normal School founded in 1940, and it also inherits the educational legacy of Wuhan University, which relocated to Leshan from 1938 to 1946 during the war. The present institution was upgraded and formed in 2000 through the merger of Leshan Teachers College and Leshan Education College with approval from the Ministry of Education. The university has around 18 teaching departments and offers about 59 undergraduate programs spanning literature, science, engineering, education, economics, management, law, agriculture and the arts, with teacher education as its core strength. Located beside the World Heritage sites of the Leshan Giant Buddha and Mount Emei, the university benefits from a strong cultural and tourism setting. Leshan Normal University welcomes international students and offers Chinese-language study for learners in China.
