📖 About the university

Sichuan Film and Television University is a private film-and-media university in Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan Province, and is described as the first undergraduate institution in western China devoted mainly to training film and media talent. Its history began in 1992, when the province approved China's first privately run film academy, the Sichuan Film and Television Art Further-Education College, in Chengdu; in 1996 Sichuan Normal University and a local enterprise jointly established a film and television college on this basis, and in 2014 the Ministry of Education approved its renaming to Sichuan Film and Television University. The university operates two campuses, in Chengdu's Jinniu district and in the historic town of Anren, and is an applied, industry-oriented institution built around arts programmes with supporting disciplines in literature, engineering, management and education. Its defining strengths lie in performance, film and television directing, broadcasting and hosting, film technology and animation. It suits students pursuing acting, directing, broadcasting and production careers in China's film and television industry.
