📖 About the university

Rocket Force University of Engineering is a military engineering university in the Baqiao district of Xi'an, Shaanxi province, and is China's sole institution dedicated to training command and technical personnel for the strategic missile forces. Its origins trace to January 1951, when it was founded as the PLA Northwest Military Region Artillery Command College; it went through several name changes, becoming the PLA Xi'an Artillery Command College in 1956 and absorbing a teaching brigade and the 15th PLA Air Force College of Aeronautics in 1959. The institution was long known as the Second Artillery Engineering University and took its current name in January 2016, when the PLA Second Artillery Force was elevated to become the PLA Rocket Force. It is organised into three colleges — the School of Science, the Junior Command College, and the NCO Vocational and Technical Education College — together with seven professional departments covering missile engineering, guidance and control, and related technical fields. The university trains officers and non-commissioned officers responsible for the command, operation, and maintenance of China's land-based strategic missile systems, making it a highly specialised technical institution within the PLA Rocket Force. As a military institution with a narrowly defined mission, it does not offer general admission for international students.
