Shandong Agricultural University in Tai'an, at the foot of sacred Mount Tai, was founded in 1906 as one of China's earliest higher agricultural schools. It is a provincial key university especially strong in crop science, horticulture and agricultural resources and environment. Its research on wheat breeding and crop physiology has produced widely grown varieties and important national awards. The university has extensive experimental farms and modern plant-science laboratories. It welcomes international students in agriculture and life sciences.
