📖 About the university

Yellow River Jiaotong University is a full-time private undergraduate university specialising in transport, located on Yingbin Avenue in Wuzhi County of Jiaozuo, on the north bank of the Yellow River in Henan Province and close to the provincial capital Zhengzhou. It was founded in 1995 and developed through stages as the Zhengzhou Automobile Secondary Specialised School and the Zhengzhou Transportation Vocational College before being promoted to a degree-granting undergraduate institution in May 2014, making it one of the few privately run universities in Henan built around the transportation industry. The university is organised into schools such as automobile engineering, transportation engineering, mechanical and electrical engineering, intelligent engineering, economics and management, and art and design, and offers a range of undergraduate and vocational programmes, with around thirty-two undergraduate majors. Its academic identity centres on the automotive, traffic and transportation, vehicle-engineering and intelligent-construction fields, supported by extensive practical training facilities and workshops. Occupying a large campus of over eleven hundred mu, it serves the logistics and vehicle industries of central China and provides hands-on, employment-oriented training for tens of thousands of students.

🌆 About Jiaozuo

Jiaozuo is a prefecture-level city in the northwest of Henan Province, lying between the Taihang Mountains to the north and the Yellow River to the south, with a population of around three and a half million. Once one of China's important coal-mining centres, it has reinvented itself around tourism, thanks above all to the spectacular Yuntai Mountain UNESCO Global Geopark, famous for its gorges, waterfalls and autumn colours. The climate is warm temperate and continental, with hot summers and cold, dry winters typical of the North China Plain. The university's actual campus lies in Wuzhi County, on the Yellow River plain just across the water from Zhengzhou, giving very convenient access to the provincial capital. For students the area combines low living costs, dramatic mountain scenery nearby, and easy connections into the central Chinese rail network.
