📖 About the university

Xinhua College of Ningxia University is an independent college in Xixia district of Yinchuan, the capital of the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, and the only independent college in Ningxia. It was approved by the regional people's government in March 2002 and formally confirmed by the Ministry of Education in January 2004, created under Ningxia University — the region's flagship 211-project university, whose main campuses are also in Xixia district. Operating beside its parent, the college teaches bachelor programmes that lean on Ningxia University's faculties: economics, management and accounting tracks, information and computing technology, foreign languages, Chinese, arts and design among them. Its position is distinctive — in the smallest of China's provincial-level regions by higher-education capacity, it offers the main undergraduate alternative for students whose scores fall short of the parent university, keeping them in Yinchuan rather than losing them to other provinces. Students share the academic atmosphere of the university district in west Yinchuan, near the Helan Mountains and the Xixia imperial tombs. Teaching is in Chinese and enrolment is domestic, drawn heavily from Ningxia and the surrounding northwest.
