📖 About the university

Chongqing Police College traces its origins to a public-security school established by the Chongqing municipal government's public security bureau in 1950, and in 2001 that school merged with the Chongqing People's Police School to form the vocational-level Chongqing Police Officer Vocational College. In 2005 the college began jointly offering an undergraduate law program with a public-security legal direction in cooperation with Southwest University of Political Science and Law, and in 2012 the Ministry of Education approved its reorganization into full undergraduate status as Chongqing Police College, with authorization to confer bachelor's degrees following in 2015. Sponsored by the Chongqing municipal government and managed by the Chongqing Public Security Bureau with guidance from the municipal education commission, the college offers ten undergraduate majors, including Investigation, Public Order, Police Command and Tactics, Criminal Science and Technology, Traffic Management Engineering, Cybersecurity and Law Enforcement, Economic Crime Investigation, Counter-Narcotics Studies, Public Security Political Work, and a distinctive major in Foreign-Related Police Affairs aimed at officers who handle cross-border and international liaison work. The college passed the Ministry of Education's undergraduate teaching evaluation in January 2021 and was subsequently approved as a candidate institution for new master's-degree authorization the same year. Chongqing Police College continues to serve as the principal training institution for police officers across the Chongqing municipality, one of China's largest urban regions.

🌆 About Chongqing

Chongqing is one of China's four municipalities under direct central government administration and one of the world's largest cities by population, built across a dramatic hilly landscape at the confluence of the Yangtze and Jialing rivers in southwestern China. It has a humid subtropical climate with hot, muggy summers and mild, foggy winters, and it is famous for its multi-level urban layout, cable cars and monorails that cut through buildings, and a skyline of skyscrapers rising directly from the riverbanks. Chongqing is a major industrial, shipping and automotive manufacturing centre and one of inland China's fastest-growing metropolises, with a large number of universities serving a resident population of over 30 million across its metropolitan region. The city is renowned for its fiery Chongqing hotpot, its riverside night views, and its status as one of China's wartime capitals during the 1930s and 1940s. Extensive rail, expressway and river transport links, plus two international airports, make Chongqing a major hub connecting southwestern China with the rest of the country.
