📖 About the university

Baicheng Normal University is the only provincial undergraduate university in the western part of Jilin Province, located in Baicheng near the junction of Jilin, Heilongjiang and Inner Mongolia. It was founded in 1958 as the Baicheng Normal Higher Specialist School, later merged with the Baicheng Forestry School formerly affiliated with the State Forestry Administration in 2000, and was upgraded to an undergraduate college in 2002. The university offers undergraduate programs across teacher education, the humanities, science, engineering, and management, with schools including Chinese language and literature, education science, mathematics and statistics, mechanical engineering, and tourism and geographical science. Reflecting its location amid the wetlands and grasslands of the western Songnen Plain, it has developed distinctive teaching and research in wetland and grassland ecology alongside its core teacher-training mission. Serving a frontier region of northeast China, the university admits international students and provides Chinese-language study for learners in China.
