Guangdong Communication Polytechnic is a full-time public higher-vocational college located in Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong, jointly built by the provincial Department of Education and Department of Transport. It was established in 1999 with the approval of the Ministry of Education by merging the Guangdong Communications School, founded in 1959, with the Guangdong Shipping School, founded in 1960, creating a comprehensive transport-oriented institution that is predominantly engineering-focused. The college operates the Tianhe and Huadu campuses and is organised into schools including Civil Engineering, Transportation and Economic Management, Rail Transit, Maritime Affairs, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Automotive and Construction Machinery, Information, and Smart Transportation Engineering. As a national high-level (double-high) vocational college, it is one of Guangdong's leading institutions for road and bridge engineering, maritime and navigation technology, rail transit and automotive engineering, and it works closely with the transport and logistics industries of the Pearl River Delta. It enrols a large body of students preparing for skilled careers across the region's transport sector. As an applied vocational college it enrols primarily domestic students and does not currently advertise a dedicated Chinese-language pathway for international applicants.
