The University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS) is a public research university in Beijing that grew out of the graduate school of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, first established in 1978. It is one of China's most research-intensive institutions, closely integrated with the Academy's national laboratories and research institutes across the country. UCAS concentrates on the natural sciences, engineering and advanced technology, and enrolls a very large body of postgraduate students supervised by leading scientists. It is designated under the Double First-Class initiative and consistently ranks among the top universities in China for scientific output.
