Xining has no metro (planned/under construction). The station is about 2.5 km from the centre. Use public buses or taxis.
Main departure point for Tibet (Qinghai–Tibet line to Lhasa) — a Tibet permit is required. Xining has a large Hui and Salar Muslim population; halal food is very common.
🔄 Getting from the station to the airport
Xining Caojiabao International Airport (XNN) is about 29 km east of Xining Railway Station. The airport shuttle bus connects the two for about ¥21-23, taking 40-60 minutes, roughly hourly from early morning until 20:00. A taxi costs about ¥80-100 and 30-40 minutes.
