The station lies west of Nagqu city beside the highway; no metro, use a taxi or bus into the centre. Elevation about 4,513 m — one of the highest stations in the world, so move slowly and avoid exertion on your first day.

Traveller notes

Opened in 2006 when the Qinghai–Tibet railway began full operation; it is a major transfer and supply stop — all 14 passenger trains on the line call here, most of them running to or from Lhasa. It has handled about 8.95 million passengers over twenty years. Foreign travellers need a Tibet Travel Permit in addition to a Chinese visa.
