Lhasa has no metro. The station sits about 7 km south of the city centre on the far bank of the Lhasa River; taxis and public buses cross the bridge into town in around 15-20 minutes.

Opened on 1 July 2006 at an elevation of 3,641 m, Lhasa station is the largest and busiest on the Qinghai-Tibet railway and now anchors a small rail network reaching Nagqu, Shigatse, Nyingchi and Shannan. Bring ID for security checks and allow extra time due to the altitude.

🔄 Getting from the station to the airport

To Lhasa Gonggar Airport (LXA): no rail or metro link; a taxi covers the 51 km via the Lhasa Airport Expressway in about 45 minutes for around ¥205. Airport shuttle buses from central Lhasa are cheaper but do not depart from the railway station itself.
