Built in 1900 as the South Manchuria branch of the Chinese Eastern Railway extended south, it is today a Class 1 station under China Railway Shenyang Group's Anshan operating section, handling passenger and freight traffic and marshalling trains for the Shenda, Yingkou, and Gouhai lines. The station is part of the Chinese Eastern Railway Buildings complex listed among China's national heritage sites.
