Zhongshan Mosque occupies the fifth floor of a building housing a halal restaurant on Sunwen East Road, serving the growing Muslim community in the commercial city of Zhongshan, Guangdong, which includes a number of Muslim businesspeople and halal restaurants and shops. Worshippers travel from tens of kilometers away to gather for Friday prayers, reflecting the wider Muslim community around the city despite the absence of a large historic mosque there.
