📜 About & history
Beida (North Street) Mosque is the cradle of Islam in Zhengzhou, founded in the late Yuan to early Ming dynasty. A 1761 stele inside records that Islam had been transmitted here through three generations of imams over several centuries. The complex was rebuilt and enlarged many times in the Qing dynasty, including major works in 1754 and 1782 and the moon tower rebuilt in 1907. It was designated a Henan provincial protected site in 2006 and a Major National Historical and Cultural Site in 2013.

In the old Hui quarter around Beida Street and Qingzhensi Street; use a map app for the nearest stop.
The main historic mosque for Muslim visitors in Zhengzhou, set in the Hui quarter with many halal restaurants nearby; a national-level heritage monument.
In the old city (Guancheng Hui District), close to the Shang-dynasty city wall ruins; a short ride from Erqi Square, or metro to Dongdajie station.
