Zaoyuan Mosque

枣园清真寺
📍 Yuzhou 🏛️ 1770

📜 About & history

Zaoyuan Mosque, in Zaoyuan Village 25 km west of Yuzhou, was built in the 35th year of the Qing Qianlong era (1770). Its founding stele, still kept in the mosque, records that the village Hui descend from Yuan-dynasty Muslim ironworkers. In 1986 subsidence from the Zaoyuan coal mine forced it to move west of the village, where it was rebuilt with a palace-style hall and moon-watching tower; it serves about 500 Hui.
