Baoshan — historically Yongchang, a western Yunnan frontier town on the Burma trade route — has had a Hui community since the late Ming and Qing, when Muslims settled while trading with Burma and built mosques. The Yongchang (Baoshan city) mosque serves the Longyang District Hui community. Baoshan Hui were prominent in the Yunnan-Burma caravan trade and figured in the Panthay-era history of western Yunnan.

Baoshan city buses through the old town of Longyang District; ask for the mosque (qingzhensi) in the Hui quarter.

Baoshan Hui cuisine (e.g. huopiao beef) is well known; halal food in the Hui quarter. Exact street address best confirmed locally.
