📜 About & history
Xuanhua North Mosque was built in 1703 (42nd year of the Kangxi era) because the old South Mosque had become too small, and covers 700 square metres. Its prayer hall of porch, main hall and rear hall forms a cruciform plan, with a square multi-storey structure over the rear hall; the moon-watching tower is its landmark. It was repaired several times between 1860 and 1875 and keeps an 1866 rebuilding stele; some buildings were damaged during long occupation in the Cultural Revolution. Most of its congregation follows the Yihewani tradition.
