Xinwang ('New Wang') Mosque is one of the eight teaching-ward mosques that give the Bafang quarter its name, its congregation forming the Xinwangsi ward. It was established in 1948, later than the older Bafang mosques, hence the 'new' in its name to distinguish it from nearby Laowang (Old Wang) Mosque. Like its neighbours it blends Chinese classical architecture with Hui Islamic brick and wood carving. It sits among the Bafang Shisan Xiang lanes that grew up around the eight mosques.
