📜 About & history

Xiaba Mosque in Xiaba Village, Caohai Town, is one of the earliest mosques in Weining: records say it was founded in the Ming Hongwu era, repaired and enlarged in 1704 and later destroyed in war. The present brick-and-timber courtyard was restored in 1932 on a site of over 490 square metres, and a new Arab-style prayer hall has been added in recent years. Xiaba is the ancestral home of the "Xiaba Ma" clan of north-east Yunnan and north-west Guizhou.
