📜 About & history
Shangbu Mosque covers about 1.8 mu. Two accounts of its founding exist: that Hui migrants from the Hezhou area of Shaanxi–Gansu built it between the early Kangxi and the Qianlong eras (1662–1795) at the initiative of an imam surnamed Su, or that a Shandong Muslim named Ma who traded with Mongolia paid for it in the Qianlong era. In the Tongzhi era Hui refugees from Shaanxi and Gansu settled around it, forming the "Shaanxi Fangshang" quarter, and the mosque was repaired and enlarged several times.
