沙城镇清真寺
📍 Zhangjiakou · Huailai County 🏛️ Kangxi era (1662-1722)

📜 About & history

Shacheng Mosque, the main place of worship for the Hui of Shacheng Town in Huailai County, was first built in the Qing Kangxi era (1662-1722) and rebuilt in 1854, as recorded on a surviving stele. The old buildings were pulled down in the Cultural Revolution; in 1981 the mosque was rebuilt west of Dongshahe Road on a 6-mu site with 52 brick-and-timber rooms including the prayer hall, and a minbar tower was added in 1990. It supports itself with rental income from an inn and restaurants. Its congregation numbers 696 households (2,036 people), all Hui.
