Linfen Mosque stands on Huancheng South Road in Yaodu District, serving as the main mosque of the historic city of Linfen in southern Shanxi Province, known as the legendary birthplace of Emperor Yao. It serves the city's Hui Muslim community, and the wider Linfen area includes other mosques, including one in the subordinate city of Houma.
