📜 About & history
Lianzhen Mosque is in Liujie Village, Lianzhen Town, Dongguang County, Hebei, beside the Beijing–Hangzhou Grand Canal. Founded in 1886 (12th year of the Qing Guangxu era), it is the main place of worship for local Hui Muslims. Originally a Chinese-style complex of three halls around courtyards, it was damaged in the Cultural Revolution, first rebuilt in 1982, renovated three times and restored again in 2004 with county approval. The present Arab-style complex covers 1,351 square metres; its prayer hall is 17.2 m high, with a lecture hall, ablution rooms, a pavilion-style minaret on top and steles recording its history. In 2018 the Cangzhou Cultural Research Society included it in the Grand Canal cultural-heritage protection system.
