Jinjiayao Mosque

Jinjiayao Mosque, also called the Old Mosque, was founded in 1574 (2nd year of the Ming Wanli era) and is the first mosque in urban Tianjin. It was repaired in the Guangxu era and in 1917, 1984, 1988 and 1990. It has about 2,000 square metres of floor space, with a prayer hall in classical Chinese palace style, and keeps a 1927 stele recording its history. Its congregation follows the Gedimu tradition. In May 2020 it was listed in Tianjin's fifth batch of municipal protected cultural relics.
