📜 About & history
The Jiaman (Jama/Juma) Mosque is the old congregational mosque of Yarkand, first built in 1409 and expanded during the reign of Abdullah Khan (1638-1669). Its flat-roofed timber prayer hall is supported by 136 wooden pillars across some 90 bays, a showcase of Uyghur mosque architecture. It is distinct from the nearby 16th-century Altyn (Golden) Mosque.

🚇 How to reach the mosque
Shache county-town buses serve the old town; the mosque is walkable from the Yarkand old-city core near the City Palace and Altyn plaza.
No distinct Arab quarter; foreign traders reach Yarkand from Kashgar (2.5-3 hrs by road on the G3012/S215).
In the Shache county-town old quarter; a few minutes by taxi from the Altyn Historical & Cultural Plaza. Yarkand is about 190 km SE of Kashgar.
Pair with the Altyn Mosque, Amannisa Khan mausoleum and the Tombs of the Yarkand Khans on the same historical plaza. Uyghur halal food in the old town.
