The Jama (congregational) Mosque is the principal historic mosque of Hotan, built in 1870 under the patronage of Habibullah Khan, ruler of the short-lived Khotan Khanate. It fuses Uyghur vernacular and Islamic styles and long served as the centre of religious life in the oasis. It is the main historic mosque to survive in Hotan city.

🚇 How to reach the mosque
Central Hotan city buses stop near Tuanjie (Unity) Square; the mosque is a short walk from the square and the Sunday bazaar.
There is no distinct Arab traders' quarter in Hotan; most foreign traders come via the jade and carpet markets around the Grand Bazaar, which sits beside the mosque.
In the heart of Hotan city; walkable from Tuanjie Square. By taxi from any downtown hotel it is 5-10 minutes.
Hotan is famous for nephrite jade, silk (atlas) and carpets. Abundant Uyghur halal food (laghman, kebab, nan) around the bazaar. Languages: Uyghur and Mandarin.
