📍 Huangshi · Huangshigang District 🏛️ 1956

📜 About & history

Huangshi Mosque (also called the Huangshi City Mosque) is in Huangshigang District, Huangshi, Hubei, and is the only mosque in south-eastern Hubei. In 1956 the city government funded a mosque on the riverside at Zhongyao, and from 1957 an imam was stationed there to lead worship. The city paid for repairs in 1989 and 1996, and the mosque was registered as a place of religious activity in 1997. In 2001, when the embankment was strengthened, the city allocated 300,000 yuan for its relocation, and a factory building near Panlong Hill in Huangshigang District was converted; the new mosque was completed in 2002, with six rooms (800 square metres) per floor, including men's and women's prayer halls, a meeting room, the imam's quarters and a reading room.
