Huaiyang Chengnei Mosque

淮阳县城内清真寺
📍 Zhoukou · Huaiyang District 🏛️ 1669 (rebuilt on present site)

📜 About & history

Huaiyang Chengnei ("Inner City") Mosque is on Minzu South Street in Huaiyang. First built in the Ming dynasty on Xinjie inside the city, it was destroyed in war in 1642 (15th year of Chongzhen). In 1669 (8th year of the Qing Kangxi era) Imam She Qiling and trustee Su Yingyuan rebuilt it on the present site, a 14.4-mu complex of 86 rooms including the prayer hall, a call-to-prayer tower and lecture rooms. Most buildings were pulled down in 1966, leaving only the scripture tower and north lecture room; an Arab-style prayer hall and lecture halls were rebuilt on the site in 1981. Relics include a Qing carved wooden stele pavilion with dragon designs and Ming steles.
